Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust invests in patient experience

To date, ExtraMed has just completed installing its leading touch-screen terminals at 906 bedsides across Andover War Memorial Hospital, Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital and the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester. The final 46 units will be installed over the next few weeks ensuring coverage across all in-patient beds within the Trust.

In addition to providing the latest in patient entertainment, (which includes free TV channels 1-5, 8am-12noon, 7am-7pm in children’s wards, and unlimited outbound phone calls to 01, 02 and 03 numbers), the ExtraMed bedside solution will also be providing a range of patient care solutions including:

  • Electronic Meal Ordering – choosing and ordering meals on the screen delivers significant cost savings, reduces infection risk, reduces food waste, saves staff time and improves patient nutrition.
  • Healthcare Education & Information – including the Haelo patient safety video and soon to include access to the full range of NHS Choices education videos, saving print and admin costs, increasing patient satisfaction, reducing the risk of re-admission and improving quality of care.
  • Dementia Orientation Screen – offers comfort and reassurance to help settle patients with Dementia.

Further beneficial solutions will soon be added to the service including real-time surveys, real-time translation services and Clinical Access – allowing clinicians to use the bedside units to access important medical information, right at the point of care.
